UR Community Cares is a member of the Manchester Community Service Council and was happy to attend the Legislative Breakfast yesterday
This week, our team at UR Community Cares had the chance to sit down with neighbors, community partners, and our local legislators at the Manchester Community Service Council Legislative Breakfast, held Thursday, October 8th, at Midwest Food Bank on Adams Street in Manchester.
It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow community partners, hear from our legislative panel, and help shape the conversation around the issues that matter most to Manchester and to our community.
Why Showing Up Matters
But the breakfast also reminded me of something bigger for people in all towns.
It reminded me how important it is for all of us to go out and vote.
We need to make sure our voices are known. That means showing up to Board of Directors meetings. That means reaching out to our representatives and making sure they know what issues are important to you, and understanding how you and your neighbors can be supported in your own community.
The Issues on the Table
There are so many issues local government has to consider: education, healthcare, water, safe streets, technology, basic needs and housing, and much more. All of these are things you and I can help shape here in Connecticut by voting and by expressing what we need for the future of our state.
Through education, you can better understand the legislative candidates and make a confident decision in November.
Need Help Registering to Vote?
If you need help knowing how to register to vote, or help getting it done online, reach out to us. UR Community Cares is at 153 Spruce St., Manchester and our volunteers can help you sign up.
See you at the polls in November.
Thanks, Geoff, for the picture for Rasheada (inside joke),
