Bringing Elder Abuse out of the shadows and into the spotlight: A teamwork approach.
Elder abuse is one of the most under -reported, under-investigated, and under-prosecuted crimes. Yet it is also one of the fastest-growing crimes today because of demographics, access to cryptocurrency, and the use of artificial intelligence. Paul Greenwood will draw upon his 22 years of prosecuting serious felony elder abuse cases to show how a multidisciplinary teamwork approach can bring such behavior out of the shadows into the spotlight in a collaborative effort to hold perpetrators accountable. Greenwood will emphasize the need for cooperation between county, state, and federal agencies and demonstrate how financial institutions, investment firms, medical centers, and attorneys in private practice can all play a part. He will also identify common misconceptions that often form a barrier to successful investigation and prosecution of such cases.
