December Hope – UR Community Cares

The holiday season can evoke a mix of emotions—joy, nostalgia, and, for some, a sense of longing. Amid this complexity, the message of hope shines as a guiding light. Helen Keller once said, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” These words remind us that resilience and optimism are always within reach.

This December, let us carry forward the spirit of hope. Whether by extending a hand to someone in need or taking a step to embrace new opportunities, each small act can light up a life. Together, we can turn challenges into chances and isolation into inclusion.

May your holiday season be filled with love, joy, and hope.

We have Secret Santa’s like Jody visiting Sheldon who is a widower, 93, living alone, who recently gave up his car and was looking for some company every now and then. Jody said, “Thanks Sheldon for the hospitality! I enjoyed our visit”

A note from a family member “My mom has been receiving wonderful volunteer support over the last 1 1/2 years… she and volunteer Jeanne, have really forged a bond, above and beyond the tasks Jeanne accomplishes on her visits. Thank you for creating great opportunities for this type of care and social support!”

Another Secret Santa Nataliya provided companionship for Virginia.

And Secret Santa Anita took Beth to a doctor’s appointment.

Our Secret Santa visited senior centers, libraries, and low-vision support groups, sharing valuable vision resources to enhance daily living and improve quality of life.

The spirit of Ms. Claus is all around us, spreading kindness, warmth, and generosity during the holiday season,
