Cycling Without Age Manchester Receives $5,000 Grant for Inclusion Project

Cycling Without Age Manchester is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant to support our Inclusion Project. This funding will be used to purchase “The Able Table,” an accessible picnic table from RiseUP for Arts, designed to accommodate the needs of people of all ages and abilities.

The Able Table features handicap-accessible seating and will be located outside our office in Charter Oak Park. This table will not only provide a welcoming space for everyone, including wheelchair users and families with young children, but it will also serve as a canvas for a community mural. RiseUp for Arts artists will host a community meeting to discuss the mural’s focus, ensuring that the artwork reflects the community’s vision and values. After the plan is decided, the artist will paint the table, creating a vibrant and inclusive community mural.

Matt Conway, Executive Director of RiseUP for Arts said “We are thrilled to partner with UR Community Cares to get Manchester’s first Able Table into the community. It’s not only necessary and practical seating, it’s also a symbol of inclusion and accessibility that makes everyone feel welcome.“

Our Commitment to Inclusion: By adding this table to the park, we aim to set a new standard for inclusive community spaces, ensuring that every community member feels comfortable, included, and valued. This project exemplifies our dedication to creating environments where everyone can gather and enjoy the outdoors.
Promoting Healthy Hydration: In addition to the picnic table, we will encourage older adults, kids, and families to stay hydrated by offering water for a small charge during our program operations. We want to show everyone how water can boost energy levels, support active lifestyles, and promote overall health. Currently, there is no access to water in the park, and people are often looking for drinks. By providing water, we aim to encourage healthier choices and ensure that everyone stays hydrated.

“We are incredibly grateful for this grant, which will allow us to create a truly inclusive and welcoming space in Charter Oak Park. The Able Table and the community mural will not only enhance the park’s accessibility but also bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging and community pride.” – Michelle Puzzo, Co-founder of UR Community Cares.

We are collaborating with the Manchester Recreation Department to offer our program in the spring, summer, and fall. They are excited about our expanded offerings, which will increase access to healthy drinks and promote a healthier community. Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining a healthy weight and overall well-being. This initiative is part of our broader efforts to build a healthier future for the Manchester community.

Fundraising and Community Engagement: This project will also serve as a fundraiser for our organization, providing an additional stream of revenue to support our programs. By creating inclusive spaces and promoting healthy habits, we are working to help people of all ages stay active and healthy.

We are incredibly grateful for this grant and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community. Thank you to everyone who supports Cycling Without Age Manchester and our mission to create inclusive, healthy, and vibrant community spaces.
