Join Us in Making a Difference: UR Community Tech Center Year in Review

2024 has been an incredible year for UR Community Tech Center! We’ve achieved so much, and it’s all thanks to the dedication and support of our amazing volunteers. As we look back on the year, we hope to inspire new volunteers to join us in our mission to empower and support our community.

Empowering Learners

This year, over 200 new learners joined us, asking their technology questions and gaining valuable skills. Our learners come from diverse backgrounds, and each one has a unique story. By volunteering, you can help them navigate the digital world and unlock new opportunities. Sign up at www.urcommunitycares.org.

Senior Planet Classes

We offered over 35 classes specifically designed for older and disabled adults. These classes provided essential information and helped attendees stay connected. Volunteering in these classes means making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Special Guest Presenters

Hosting 15+ special guest presenters brought valuable expertise to our community. Volunteers play a crucial role in organizing these events and ensuring they run smoothly. Your support can help bring even more knowledge and inspiration to our community.

Our Goal is to Add Smiles to the Community

Social Mixers

To combat loneliness and isolation, we organized 6 social mixers. These events provided opportunities for people to connect and build relationships. Volunteering at social mixers means creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels included.

Community Events

We promoted health and wellbeing through 6 community events, encouraging a healthier lifestyle for all. Volunteers are essential in planning and executing these events, making sure they are enjoyable and beneficial for everyone.

Wellness Rource Programs

We started a Manchester Parkinson’s Disease Social Group and a Blind and Low Vision Support Group, offering support and resources to those in need. Volunteering with these groups means providing a lifeline to individuals who may feel isolated or overwhelmed.

Dedicated Volunteers

Our dedicated team of volunteers have assisted as trainers and classroom assistants, making our programs successful. Their hard work and commitment have been the backbone of our achievements. We are always looking for more passionate individuals to join our team.

UR Vision Station

We proudly opened the UR Vision Station in the Tech Center, a free resource for vision-impaired and blind community members to try out assistive technology. Volunteering here means helping people discover tools that can significantly improve their quality of life.
