About Us

Hartford Foundation for Public Giving named Michelle Puzzo, top 100 influencer in Hartford County

UR Community Cares builds services that empower lives through tech, education, recreation, and vision support. We believe everyone deserves access to tools and opportunities, regardless of age or ability.

Our programs help bridge gaps, create connections, and improve life for all community members. We teach tech skills, share educational resources, and offer fun, inclusive activities.

We also support individuals with visual impairments through specialized services and outreach. Our goal is a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone can grow and thrive.

Who We Are

“My personal experience with my Meme having Alzheimer’s and my patients needing more support at home made me realize I could link neighbors to help one another,” Michelle Puzzo, co-founder.

Michelle had the idea for UR Community Cares in 2019 after treating her physical therapy patients who needed help at home but couldn’t pay for assistance and didn’t qualify for state programs. She realized volunteers could provide community care services to those aging and disabled in their neighborhood if they knew who needed help.

Her medical background allowed her to recognize the challenges people are stuggling with when they have declining physical and age related changes.. The organization continues to grow with her dedication.

Our Mission/Vision

UR Community Cares mission is to connect older, disabled and/or special needs neighbors with caring community volunteers to provide in-home non-medical support services that enable individuals to live more fulfilled, independent, happier lives at home, by safely “aging in place” with the dignity, care and respect they deserve.
UR Community Cares, Our Vision is to create a world where seniors and disabled individuals have all the support they need to live vibrant, dignified fulfilled lives at home, regardless of financial ability.

“In 2035 there will be 78 million people age 65 and older compared to 76.4 million under the age of 18. In other words, the elderly population will outnumber children for the first time in the country’s history-a demographic shift that poses a unique set of public health challenges.”
