UR Community Cares July Newsletter 2024

July has been filled with a variety of events.

Our MaturityWorks team, our intern and all of our volunteers have allowed our programming to grow in this very busy month.

We reopened our doors at the Tech Center after vacation to so many new faces at our lectures and presentations!

Our Cycling Without Age Manchester program has been present at the MARC, Inc. of Manchester Summer Concerts, to give free rides to guests, the last concerts are tomorrow night and Aug 6th so come check it out!

We have completed our 2024 Directory of Blind/Vision Impaired Services and Organizations and will be distributing in August.

We are grateful for grant funding from CVS Health Foundation, Community Foundation of Middlesex County, Community Chest of New Britain and Berlin.
We were also included in the Manchester, Cromwell, East Hampton, and East Windsor town budgets for FY 24/25. We have received funding from the Town of Killingworth, and donations like these are helping us support more people.

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand WORDS so we thought we would show you just a snapshot of what we have been up to in July.

We are connecting volunteers to their aging and disabled neighbors that need help to stay independent at home. Volunteers are providing invaluable support to in various meaningful ways:

Companionship: Spending time with seniors, engaging in conversations, playing games, or simply being a friendly presence to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Home Assistance: Helping with household tasks such as cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, and yard work to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.

Transportation: Providing rides to medical appointments, social events, and other essential errands, making mobility easier and ensuring access to necessary services.

Technology Assistance: Teaching seniors how to use smartphones, computers, and other digital devices to stay connected with loved ones and access online resources.

Errand Running: Running errands like picking up prescriptions, buying groceries, or other essential items, making daily life more manageable.
